PCMS has partnered with Prevention Point and several other agencies to present the “SCOPE of Pain” education program, provided by Boston University School of Medicine.
SCOPE of Pain is a nationally recognized CME program that uses current evidence-based practice to teach healthcare professionals how to safely and effectively manage patients with chronic pain, if appropriate, with opioid analgesics. This unique program specifically discusses safer opioid prescribing with an additional focus on safer benzodiazepine prescribing.
You can register for this program directly at the SCOPE of Pain website:
https://www.scopeofpain.org/in-person-training/select-a-conference.php?event=183
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided, and there is nearby parking.
SCOPE of Pain goes beyond other safe-prescribing programs in that it contains several unique content modules including assessing chronic pain, assessing risk for opioid misuse, initiating or continuing opioid therapy safely, assessing and managing aberrant medication taking behavior, how to specifically titrate doses of opioids, how to safely titrate doses of benzodiazepines in the context of concurrent opioid use, and how to safely discontinue patients’ medications when necessary.
Another unique feature of the program will be the inclusion of clinical demonstrations related to patient dosing discussions, dosing adjustments, and medication discontinuation.
