Earlier in September PAMED President, Dr. Marilyn Heine participated in a press conference in Philadelphia organized by the US Chamber’s Institute for Legal Reform. Pennsylvania’s lawsuit climate and Philadelphia’s courts need to change for the benefit and fairness to all. As a step, the Pennsylvania legislature is encouraged to pass an Apology Rule to allow a physician to express regret over an adverse outcome without it being used against the physician in a court of law as an admission of negligence.
