July 20: AMA COVID-19 Efforts

AMA released the following update on July 20:

“The American Medical Association (AMA) signed onto [a] joint letter with the American Hospital Association and the American Nurses Association to urge Congress to address health disparities in the next COVID-19 legislative package. Specifically, the letter covers collection and reporting of demographic and health inequities data; support for building a structurally-competent workforce to aid COVID-19 impacted communities; enhanced communications with minority and marginalized communities; and improved access to testing along with several others issues.

In addition, the AMA signed on to another letter to Congress with the American College of Physicians, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Health Security, the Pacific Business Group on Health, Service Year Alliance, and the United States of Care highlighting the importance of contact tracing during the COVID-19 public health emergency and urging Congress to act quickly to give states the substantial tools and resources they need to track the virus.”
