Dr. Lefton was installed as the 151st President of The Philadelphia County Medical Society on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The Philadelphia County Medical Society continues a proud tradition dating back to 1849 when a group of physicians banded together with the expressed ideals of improving the quality of medical care, elevation the ethical standards of medical practice and upgrading the quality of medical education.
Dr. Lefton is Chief of Gastroeterology at Aria health and past President of their Medical Staff. He began his teaching career as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and has maintained his faculty affiliation as Clinical Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine.
Dr. Lefton has a strong interest in organized medicine and champions medical causes. As President of the illustrious 163 year old Medical Society, he hopes to make a strong effort to support city, statewide and national efforts to promote nutrition in fighting the epidemic of obesity in our Society.
Dr. Lefton resides in Huntingdon Valley with his wife Paulette; they have two children and two grandchildren.
