Contributions on Behalf of Dr. Harvey Lefton

Harvey B. Lefton, MD, FACP, FACG, AGAF, FASGE
151st President of the Philadelphia County Medical Society

We are very saddened by the sudden loss of Dr. Harvey Lefton.  He was truly a renaissance man: academician, writer, editor, community and Medical Society leader and family man. There are very few physicians who have had the impact on upgrading the quality of medical care as Dr. Lefton has in his career.

Dr. Lefton was a champion of medical causes and served as the PCMS President from 2012-2013 and also on the Board of The Philadelphia County Medical Society; he was a PCMS member for 48+ years.  In addition, he continued to be active delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society HOD annual meeting and was the Chairman of the Philadelphia Delegation until just recently.

Dr. Lefton was the Chief of Gastroenterology at Jefferson Aria Health Northeast Hospitals and past President of their Medical Staff. He also helped to found and launch GI Specialists in 1976 and was their President.

For the last 13 years, Dr. Lefton facilitated the Annual PCMS GI conference, which is held each spring and gathers Philadelphia’s top physicians to discuss clinical approaches to patients with gastrointestinal illness. Contributions made will help establishing the Dr. Harvey Lefton Memorial GI conference.

Thank you in advance for your very generous donation to the Medical Society’s Educational and Scientific Trust on behalf of Harvey Lefton, MD.
